The last three years have seen unprecedented changes, both to our lives and communities. Unfortunately, this has also had an impact on schools’ finances with fewer pupils in primary schools across London, including at Westminster Cathedral Catholic Primary School.
The letter below is from the Chairs of Governors of both Westminster Cathedral and St Vincent de Paul schools regarding a proposed amalgamation (merging) of the two schools from September 2022. Please read the contents of it carefully.
The welfare and education of our pupils is key to providing them with a secure future. The amalgamation is being proposed to ensure we continue to offer the most beneficial education and school environment for your children.
A consultation will run from Monday 11 October to Friday 12 November. Your feedback on the proposal is important and welcomed. Feedback can be shared in writing or in person at meetings to be held at Westminster Cathedral School.
We understand that you may have concerns and queries but respectfully ask that you direct any questions or feedback as outlined in the letter, and not by questioning school staff, who themselves are being consulted in a similar way.
You may also want to discuss this with your children, although as this is the start of the process and nothing is decided yet, please keep this in mind when communicating the consultation with children. Our objective is to minimise distraction from this so they can focus on their learning and we would appreciate your support with that.
The education and welfare of the pupils remain our priority as staff and governors

The consultation period runs from Monday 11th October until Friday 12th November 2021.
Parents can make their response to the proposal by:
- Emailing the response form to: firstname.lastname@example.org (a copy of the form can be downloaded, below)
- Requesting a paper copy of the form and leaving it with the school office
There will be two meetings held at the school that parents are invited to attend:
- Wednesday 13th October at 5:30 p.m.
- Monday 18th October at 5:30 p.m.
You will be invited to submit questions in advance. The meeting wil be led by members of the governing body with representation from Westminster Local Authority and the Diocese of Westminster.
