Week beginning 9th July we had Sports Week.
The week started with the children coming to school in their PE kits which they wore all week. On Tuesday KS1 had their Sports morning in our school playground. There was such a hive of activity as the children completed each activity on a rotation. It was so lovely to see parents and friends come and support the children. I was impressed to see the number of fathers who took part in their race and mothers too. Also, I witnessed a first—a staff race. I was very impressed with the speed and determination I saw!
Key Stage 2 had their sports day on Wednesday. This took place at St George’s Square. Again it was great to see all the parents, siblings and friends who came along to watch and support. The Key Stage 2 sports day involves all aspects of athletics, the children competed in the triple jump, javelin, shot-put, 30m races, 50m races, relays amongst other activities. Congratulations to St FRANCIS who were the winning house in Years 3 and 4 and Years 5 and 6. Congratulations to St BERNADETTE who came second in Years 3 and 4 and St PETER who came second in Years 5 and 6.
On Thursday was the pupil challenge the teachers. We had a lovely response and after school members of the staff were challenged to penalties, basketball shooting, skipping, hoopla and even handstands. It was a lovely fundraising activity.
The week finished on Friday for the Year 6 vs teachers football match. This took place after school and was watched by a lot of supporters. I would like to thank Mr Beach who organised all the events of the week and thank you to the teachers and staff who put on their sports gear, their trainers and represented the staff team. Thank you also to the staff who were involved in the staff challenge on Thursday. Go to the school gallery page to see photographs from the week.
