Today is Maundy Thursday and marks the beginning of the Easter triduum and this year we are doing it without the possibility of going to Church and re-enacting the story. It dawned on me this morning that as a school community we have not shared the Easter Story nor the Stations of the Cross. It is always a highlight of the school year being able to re-live and reflect on Jesus’ Passion as he suffered and died on the cross for our sins.
In today’s Gospel according to John (John 13:1-15) Jesus says, “So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have set you an example, that you also should do as I have done to you.”
With this quote in mind, what should we be doing today for those who are affected by COVID-19 whether it is physically or emotionally or whether it is to do with the wellbeing of others or our own wellbeing. Having faith in God and talking to God through prayer is one way we can feel we are doing our bit. Setting an example to those around us and following the school mission statement—’To Love One Another as I have loved you’ will help us remain focused on what is important to us.
