World Book Day 2018

World Book Day 2018

Thursday 1st March 2018

Last Thursday we celebrated World Book Day.

World Book Day is an annual celebration which happens in the UK the first Thursday of March. World Book Day is a one-day charity event on which everybody gets to focus on books, authors and reading.

In school, we each dressed up as a book character and shared our favourite books, authors and characters. Some classes completed a quiz, others combined classes for buddy reading.

Years 4 and 5 were lucky enough to have an author visit their class. We welcomed Tom Fletcher, the author of  The Creakers, The Christmasurus, There's a Monster in your Book and Brain Freeze. Tom Fletcher is also the World Book Day author for 2018. Tom's latest book Brain Freeze is available for just £1 or for free in exchange for a World Book Day token.

The children enjoyed Tom's visit, it was wonderful for them to be inspired by a published author and musician. He shared his talents by reading some of his new book with the children and singing, this was followed by questions from the children. What a wonderful way to celebrate World Book Day 2018.
